Beginner
Course - The Beginner Course is offered on the Penobscot River
and introduces basic flatwater skills and progresses to class II whitewater
paddling techniques. For our beginning sections, participants are not
required to have any whitewater experience but should be comfortable around
whitewater and in moderate to good physical condition. The first day of
the whitewater beginner course focuses on proper paddling techniques,
boat balance, and basic flatwater skills. The course progresses to easy
moving water skills such as entering and exiting eddies and ferrying.
The class culminates with a class II whitewater paddle during which students
utilize all of the skills attained during the previous days paddling
classes. A third whitewater instruction day will be optional for interested
participants.
Intermediate
Course - The Intermediate Course also takes place on the Penobscot
Rivers and focuses on the needs of the skilled whitewater paddler who
seeks to refine their whitewater technique. For our intermediate section,
participants should have basic knowledge of whitewater paddling. This
course is designed for the skilled whitewater paddler seeking to expand
their rodeo and playboating abilities and is offered on the river best
suited to the students learning objectives. As with the Basic Whitewater
course a third day of instruction can be booked upon request.
Private
Course - Private instruction is offered on all rivers for students
who seek to benefit from the advantages of one-on-one instruction. Private
instruction is scheduled at the convenience of the customers during times
outside of scheduled course dates. Private instruction is offered for
all skill levels and takes places at various locations depending upon
the skill and goals of the student.
