BEGINNER WHITEWATER COURSE
Introduction to Kayaking is a beginning level course, which focuses on the basics of skill development to help the student progress to more challenging paddling techniques. The goal of Introduction to Kayaking is to provide a basic understanding of kayaking and the fundamentals of paddling in flatwater and class I-II moving water. Particular attention will be paid to skills such as entering and exiting the kayak; forward and reverse paddle strokes, sweeps, draws, and other strokes; and the skill foundation for the eskimo roll. It is designed as a stepping-stone to basic moving water skills and will concentrate on participant comfort and safety in flatwater and easy moving water paddling conditions.

INTERMEDIATE WHITEWATER COURSE
The Maine Kayak’s Intermediate course reviews basic skills and quickly progresses to more advanced paddling techniques. The purpose of this program is to give participants the opportunity to take kayaking to the next level. We will work on the Eskimo roll, learn how to front and side surf, cartwheel, and more advanced skills. The course will be tailored to each individual needs and kayaking knowledge. This is the perfect continuation course after completing the beginner kayaker program.

PRIVATE WHITEWATER INSTRUCTION
Private instruction is offered on all rivers for students who seek to benefit from the advantages of one-on-one instruction. Private instruction is scheduled at the convenience of the customers during times outside of scheduled course dates. Private instruction is offered for all skill levels and takes places at various locations depending upon the skill and goals of the student.

KENNEBEC RIVER YOUTH GROUP SAMPLER
We want to invite Summer Camps and Youth Groups to learn whitewater kayaking skills with Maine Kayak. Maine Kayak offers the finest Whitewater Kayaking on the Kennebec River at special Youth Group Rates. This course is designed to provide children and families the opportunity to spend a leisurely day on the Kennebec River, paddling among beautiful scenery and spectacular wildlife. This course includes all river equipment, wetsuits and spray jackets, ACA Kayak Instructors on every course, river lunch, transportation from our base to the river and back, and the highest standards of safety. Maine Kayak can also put together a camping or lodging package for your Youth Group.

SEA KAYAKING TOURS
Maine Kayak’s sea kayaking tours are taught as successive instructional clinics of half to full days each. Each trip is dedicated to specific skill development and progresses from basic skills to intermediate paddling techniques over the course of the entire program. Maine Kayak’s sea kayaking program is designed to be flexible to the needs of the customer. Sheltered harbors and deep bays provide a consistent instructional forum all season long, from May to October.
